Mayor Franklins Dear John Program
Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin launched the "Dear John" program in 2006 to purposefully attack the problem of child prostitution in the city of Atlanta. Dear John” is a public education campaign to end the commercial sexual exploitation of children, with Mayor Shirley Franklin, the Juvenile Justice Fund and a wide-range of supporters. The campaign seeks to educate and activate audiences to help stem the problem, which also results in children withdrawing from schools and their families, entering into poverty and becoming more susceptible to health risks.
